Advertising for the Summer Market:
1. The French Cupboard has placed some ads on behalf of French Barn in upcoming issues of Romantic Homes and PORCH Magazine. We are also doing some online advertising for French Barn via paid sidebar spots on various blogs. Online ads link directly to the Shopping page of the French Barn site.
2. The French Barn has been given permission from Etsy to promote and advertise the French Barn on the Etsy boards! This is a pretty huge thing because up to this point, Etsy has not allowed the promotion of outside websites within the Etsy forums. Any member of French Barn is welcome to help spread the word on the forums! Soooo... we are offering a free Season at the barn to a few members who would be willing to help promote French Barn on the forums. Please email me if you are interested. Free spots are limited.
Etsy Related Issues:
As some of you know, Etsy had some trouble recently with their search engine and how items were being cached, which effected about 6 or 8 of our French Barn members. I'm delighted to tell you that after weeks of working with the developers, everything seems to have been repaired and I have not since heard from any members noticing any issues! I know that some of you are still experiencing dropped traffic within Etsy itself and I know that is something that Etsy is aware of. I can't speak as to how they are repairing things within Etsy but as it concerns the items pulled into the French Barn, we are at 100%. All our member's items are rotating within the Barn and the search function is working much better. One good thing that came out of our temporary problem is that we now have a working relationship with the developers and should have new apps available to us first, as well as having a contact person if any issues pop up in the future with the Etsy API. We are blessed to be the first marketplace to use this API. Because we are the first, we may experience some bumps but we also have the benefit of working directly with the developers, sending our suggestions their way.
Hints & Tips for French Barn:
1. The French Barn pulls in your most recent 100 Etsy items so if you have more than 100 items, only the most recent 100 will appear in the French Barn.
2. You can locate all your items in the French Barn by clicking on your shop name at the top right of any of your listings. This is a good way to monitor your items at the French Barn. And it is also how to find the url so you can link to your French Barn items (if you want to add a link on your blog, etc). There is a button available for your blog HERE.
3. The French Barn search engine does not pick up your store name unless you have used your store name within your description somewhere (ie: handmade by ....) so keep that in mind when you are listing items.
